| Aunt Jane's Hero by Elizabeth Prentiss is a wonderful book! It is second only to Stepping Heavenward by the same author as being an all time favorite around here. In fact, we think so highly of it that we've done a companion to it! The companion is in the format of thought questions for individuals and a few discussion questions per chapter for couples contemplating or preparing for marriage. Spaces are left after groups of related questions, so that people can write down their thoughts. Young ladies eighteen and over might enjoy using it as an aid in a book study of the Prentiss book. Because of the nature of the questions and topics in this companion we do suggest that all readers be at a stage of readiness for marriage and that couples be at the stage in their relationship when both parties are not only ready, but that marriage is actually in view. Also, as stated in the introduction to the companion, author Maxine emphasizes her position as being not a teacher, but a confidante in this writing, such as Aunt Jane was to the book's characters. Even with all these precautionary words, we want to see many "Adams" and "Eves" (as referred to in the companion) find encouragement and help in the pages of the Prentiss book. Maybe this companion would help! |
