Weekly Tip

pearls (2)
Did you know we have tips and tidbits for brides? Well, we do. Every week we post a link or links to useful articles and resources to help with the wedding planning. Every now and then we may even include some spiritual encouragements. So far, we’ve posted links to helps with wedding hymns, writing your own vows, cake designs, and a link to a pretty decent sale going on of some items online. We even had a suggestion last week of what we think would make a great flower girl gift: paper dolls. I like that idea so much that I think we should post it again in the near future. There will be plenty more suggestions and tips, so if you know anyone else who may be interested, please let them know and have them come visit us. Our weekly tips page is here. This week you’ll find info about how to properly stuff the invitations.

By the way, if any of you have any links you think would be helpful to the bride-to-be and would like to pass them on, let us know in a comment or email us. We would especially welcome links to money saving suggestions. We’ll put any links we get into our tidbits folder and maybe feature it on our tips page. Thanks.

Happy Planning,

Maxine

Thoughtful and Economical

May 10th, 2010

Gratefully yours

Just wanted to stop by to tell folks we have a few new items which are simple designs, each intended to let you show how thankful you are for someone or which will encourage another person along the way. Want to tell a dear person how much you appreciate them? Want to encourage a fellow saint who is going through a trial, or give a friend a little boost? Check these new little products out! On a couple of them, you even get to pick from a few cards that we happen to have on hand which have sweet messages . The best part? They’re very reasonably priced. You can even buy a few to put in your gift closet or container (do you have one?*), or throw in one or two with the rest of your order. Do whatever suits you best…we’re here to serve! And we sure do want to help you live AND give!!! Doesn’t hurt to be thoughtful and economical at the same time, right? So far, we have three different items, but God willing, we’ll be adding more: Information is here.

These would also be great gifts for children to give to their moms, teachers, Sunday school teachers, or somebody who lovingly babysits them from time to time. There are surely others to add to that list!

A Message for the Day

“A hundred years from now it will not matter what my bank account was, the sort of house I lived in, or the kind of car I drove…but the world may be different because I was important in the life of a child.” ~ Forest E. Witcraft

I stumbled upon this quote today, knowing little of this man other than that he was a scholar, teacher, and scout leader. But what wisdom are in these words. They are particularly relevant to parents and teachers, but they should be remembered by all of us. Even after we’ve raised our own children and retired from our occupations, we can still make a difference in the life of a child. From our homes, if we can scrape up a few dollars a month to sponsor one in another country, or even talk a bit to the neighborhood children, who knows what good we can do for the future of not just our own country, but the world? After all, that future is in the hands of today’s children.

And you know that the most good you can do is to help point them to Jesus, who is the only Hope for the future everywhere. We can point our children and grandchildren to Him; we can point our students to Him; we can speak of Him to the children out on the streets after we befriend them; and we can support Christian organizations that are serving Him by ministering to the needy little ones.

I need to be more diligent in being “important in the life of a child” in the ways that matter most. Do you?

Lovingly,

Maxine

Saving Energy

April 23rd, 2010

Sun Through Window

Of the many lessons we can teach our children, one of the more important is that of how to save. Of course, saving money and resources is at the top of the list, but have you thought about how teaching them to save time and energy can factor into that equation? And when speaking about saving energy, that can be taught in a literal sense. Our local energy provider has a really neat section for kids at their website. I enjoy reading all the little tidbits myself and I think you will too.

Take your children to the site, look around, and use it as a supplement to your science work (and history), but this particular page is an informative one about energy efficiency. And learning about efficiency of any kind is always worthwhile, don’t you agree?

In hopes of helping your household to live,

Maxine

Renovating!

April 3rd, 2010

We’ve been doing some renovations at the site, and have been running into some technical difficulties. We’re working our way through them, however, but I thought I better let you know. Please disregard anything that isn’t where it should be (or is missing). You know how you have to move things around when you do renovating work in your home? Well, that’s what is happening here and the tech problems have not helped! But, by the grace of God, we’ll have it back together again soon, along with a few of the changes and additions in the product line.

In the meantime, may you and your family enjoy a blessed and joyous Resurrection Day. HE LIVES!

Lovingly,

Maxine

Yes, we are still dedicated to helping children grow! However, as we’ve hinted, we are expanding the scope of our services to you. We feel that the name of our newsletter needs to reflect these changes. When you receive your next newsletter in your inbox, it will be titled, “Helping Families Live & Give.” We’ll talk more about why we’ve changed the name in our upcoming newsletter.

Hope you are enjoying Spring,
Beverly
