Buying Wholesale

Friday, May 25th, 2007

Don’t forget–many of our publications are available at wholesale prices. Look for the asterisk (*) after the product name. Needless to say, our biggest seller is our Bright Gems book and we strongly encourage churches with bookstores or book tables to purchase some. A store or church needs to purchase just 5 copies to get 30% off and just 10 copies to get 40% off. Feel free to email us if you’d like our wholesale price breakdown.

Busy weekend here–so no new Christian hero until next week. If interested, click on the “Christian Heroes” category on the right where you can read our past entries.

Blessings for the weekend. Drive carefully! Enjoy your parade! Enjoy your cookout!

Remember those who have given their lives for our country.

Baby Photo Albums

Tuesday, May 1st, 2007

Our children’s photo album is close to my heart. Speakable Gifts started as a gift basket business and the verses and hymns photo album was created to go in a gift basket for a new baby. It was our very first publication. Shortly after it was published, we stopped doing baskets, but the album was a hot selling item for quite some time. As much as I love it, I think it needs to be phased out. Since it is done entirely by hand, it takes more time than I have and interest in it has waned, except for a few ardent admirers who purchase it for baby showers. So when I run out of the covers and the albums themselves, which are hard to find anyway, we will stop offering it. This could take some time, depending on how orders go, but I doubt if I’ll purchase any more of the raw materials. A very dear friend makes the covers for me, but I think this will even be better for her, because of her husband’s illness. So all in all, its time is limited to “while supplies last.” The pages will still be available as laminated flash cards.

Of course, the companion cassette will still be available for a while. Interest in it has even revived a bit, with a couple of large wholesale orders. Some businesses have come up with good ideas for it.

Talk to you soon.

Weak and Weary

Wednesday, December 13th, 2006

And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” 2 Cor. 12:9

I love this verse. Praise the Lord for His sufficient grace when we are weak and weary.

If there is someone whom you know is in need of this grace and they still have a cassette player (hopefully most folks still do), then why not give them a little gift with a card of encouragement? Why not give them one of our oldest works, but one that is still dear to my heart: Verses and Hymns for the Weak and Weary. We still have these cassettes around and still hope that God will use them to remind hurting people of the truths of this verse.

I like to tell folks that we were weak and weary when we recorded this tape. My husband and oldest daughter did the singing and they struggled that summer with all kinds of sore throats, colds and allergies. But somehow and someway it was done, even in weakness. I think that is why it is all the more precious to me.

I know many struggling folks right now. You probably do too. Let’s remember them in prayer.

Talk to you soon.

Precious Gems

Friday, December 1st, 2006

Do you have any precious jewels at your house? I hope you do. I’m not talking about your engagement ring or anything like that. The jewels I’m referring to are those children who have qualities of character that cause them to shine for Jesus. Our book, Bright Gems for His Crown, is intended to help your children think about those character qualities and the Biblical truths that help to bring them about. In the book, we talk about thirty-one Biblical truths/character qualities, one for each month of the year. We do this for three months, for a total of ninety-three devotionals for your children. Over in the childen’s activities section of our website, we feature an excerpt each month and we invite you to go over and read it. This online devotional is called “Gems for Bright Gems.” This month we think about having courage and the main emphasis is on being courageous to do what is right. Maybe it will whet your appetite to get the book for your children. This featured excerpt is always from an introduction to the character quality or truth that is discussed on a particular date. If you have the book, see if your child can answer the question at the end of the online article. We’ll be happy to send a happy ecard to them for taking part! But, of course, that’s only if it’s alright with you. God bless.

Talk to you soon.

An Increase and a Decrease

Tuesday, November 14th, 2006

A quick note about a dollar increase/decrease in price on two items. Just to let you know, our Verses and Hymns for the Very Young flashcards have been increased to $7.00 when sold separately. But the good news is that the cassette has been reduced to $3.50, so that the price for the set remains the same at $8.50. Unless you’re buying wholesale, it wouldn’t make much sense to buy them separately, would it?

This is a perfect gift for a toddler or small child that would have spiritual implications for their future!

A Chance to Judge Others

Beauty Contest

Calling all potential beauty queen judges between the ages of eleven and sixteen……!!! Know anybody who might want to give it a try? Our thirteen year old daughter enjoyed her mom’s little booklet that made her a judge of others for a while. (You know how much we sinful creatures love to judge others!) She even picked the right winner, but her scoring of all the contestants was different from mine. That’s really interesting, how much each person will see things differently. Since the purpose of the booklet is that girls will think about real beauty, I hope the need to think about the qualities of these “contestants” helped her to apply some things to her own life. That’s the point of it all. At least it helped me to say a few things without “preaching.”

I hope some folks will pick it up this fall and put it in their daughter or granddaughter’s stocking. Or maybe someone in the targeted age group would like to give it as a pollyanna gift. Think about it. Tell your friends.

Talk to you soon
